The Pennsylvania Field Guide to Aquatic Invasive Species app will only record personal data when a new report is submitted by the user. The report will require your name, and e-mail address. Phone number is optional. The additional information collected will be solely about the species and infestation details, such as where the species was found, what species it is, and the severity of the infestation. The app has geo-location capabilities to assist with logging the location of species. This information is only collected if the user voluntarily submits a species report.
This information will be shared with the app developers, Pennsylvania Sea Grant, and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission if follow-up is needed for potential rapid response. Data will be stored in a private, password-protected online database. Reporting data will be downloaded periodically by Pennsylvania Sea Grant and stored separately on a secure Pennsylvania State University server.
Your data will solely be used to aid in the early detection and rapid response of aquatic invasive species in Pennsylvania.
Your information will not be sold or provided to any third parties. In fact, your use of the app does not obligate you to share any data.
